L'oro del Cilento - The Gold of Cilento

Terra Di Cilento is an “extra virgin” olive oil from an organic, family production, directly from Cilento. Fresh olives of the highest quality ensure the naturally mild taste.

Perfekt for all cooks and foodies.

Terra Di Cilento is a particularly mild, fruity olive oil with few bitter compounds. The olives are harvested when ripe and give the oil its golden yellow colour. Delicious for salads, dipping, appetizers and desserts, as well as for baking and cooking.

Olive oil contains unsaturated fatty acids such as oleic acid, linoleic acid, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. The oil has positive effects on the cardiovascular system and cholesterol levels. It also has an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative effect.

Olive Harvest

The olives are traditionally harvested by hand between October and February. Large nets are laid out around the trees so that the olives are gently caught. With the help of wooden sticks, the olives are shaken out of the tree or picked directly from the tree by hand.

Immediately after harvesting, the olives are crushed and cold-pressed. So fresh and natural, the oil is described as “extra virgin”.

History of the Olive

For 6000 years, the olive has been considered one of the most important foods in many regions. Even then, it was seen as a combination of enjoyment and health. Where exactly the tree originally came from is difficult to say. Culturally and culinary, however, we associate the olive and its oil with the Mediterranean region. Not only are there 500 million olive trees here, but the per capita consumption is also 10-15 liters per year, which is the highest in the world. An estimated 1000 different types of olives exist today, depending on the region, climate, type and mixture, olive oil gets its individual taste. From bitter or peppery to fruity and sweet, everything can be found.

Many stories and legends are connected with the olive. According to their legends, the Greeks received the first olive tree from Athena in a contest between the gods. With her useful gift, she won the competition and favor of the Greeks, who subsequently named Athens after her. In Christian scriptures, the olive branch appears as a sign of peace.
